Pipefest Canada - 7th August

TIMINGS: Assembly in Confederation Park - 10:30 am for pipers/drummers, 11:00 am for dancers.  Step off at 11:45 am to be at Parliament Hill for 12 noon.  Assemble bands and dancers in Saltire configuration, do massed fling at 12:20, play Amazing Grace then Scotland The Brave, and then we're done.  All bands will have dancers in between them and shall play their own marches to the Hill.  It shall be a grand site; we have a photographer going up the Peace Tower to get aerial shots.

CanadaNestled on the banks of the majestic Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau Rivers, Ottawa is one of the most beautiful G8 capitals in the world. A thriving international technology and business centre and world class tourism and convention destination, Ottawa is also rich in culture and heritage with its many national institutions, parklands, waterways and historic architecture. It is home to a large number of foreign embassies and is a recognized centre for both academics and professional training.

"There is an undeniable pull in one’s soul that is called forth by the cry of the bagpipes. Centuries of tradition and history pour forth in the airs, reels and strathspeys that still roll down the Highlands of old and into the hearts of a new generation of pipers worldwide".

This parade is a celebration not only of Scottish music and culture, but also a demonstration of what the human heart and Canadian spirit can achieve for the benefit of others. With every note played and with every step taken in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, you are making a difference in countless lives. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your compassion and generosity."
