National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland joins Diamond Jubilee Parade


One of Scotland’s most talented musical groups, The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, will join the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Perth on 2nd June 2012. The group, a growing force in the pipe world will join 1,000 pipers and drummers from around the World.

The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland is a non-competing cutting edge performance pipe band for 10-25 year olds in Scotland. Launched in 2002 by The National Piping Centre, the National Youth Pipe Band is the first and only organisation of its kind to bring together Scotland’s most talented young musicians at a national level. Membership is drawn from across Scotland’s 32 councils, and young pipers and drummers come from an array of different competing pipe bands and musical backgrounds, brought together as a collection of the very best chosen to play for their country. The National Youth Pipe Band provides unique development opportunities for its young members and an exceptional musical experience for its audiences. Perth Diamond Jubilee Parade – save the date!

Pipe bands are invited to join the carnival atmosphere at the Perth Diamond Jubilee Parade to be held in Perth on 2 June, 2012. This will be a fantastic day for all the family with a number of large free events throughout the day. Perth will certainly be the place to be with the Diamond Jubilee Parade, The Big Jubilee Lunch, an 8km Kilted Run, live music and a carnival atmosphere.

Bands and individual players can register can register to take part by using the online registration form.

The Diamond Jubilee Parade will march through Perth and end with a Grand Finale on the North Inch. Where a host of events are planned. The Kilted Run is a World Record attempt to beat the current record officially achieved by 1,089 participants in Perth, Ontario, on 26 June 2010. They then smashed their own record in 2011 when 1,276 people participated in the run. Kilted friends and family members are invited to take-up the challenge.
