Drum Major Cameron Goodall BA Hons, FSA SCOT, will lead the Royal Mile Parade that mark’s the Royal Visit.

Cammy’s involvement with martial music began with the 1st Bishopton Boys Brigade band, which at the time of his involvement evolved from a bugle band, through Cavalry trumpets, to a US style drumline. Cammy trained on Bell Lyre, progressing to more conventional keyboard percussion instruments as the band developed.

At High School in Park Mains, Erskine he was encouraged to develop his talents as a percussionist in an exceedingly competitive percussion section, which included Deacon Blue’s Dougie Vipond.

At the age of 16, Cammy joined the army, training at the Army Junior School of Music in Dorset before joining the Black Watch Band in West Berlin in 1987. Throughout his 24 year career as a regular Army musician he enjoyed tremendous opportunities to perform in such prestigious venues as the Albert Hall, The White House lawn, Madison Square Gardens and on numerous occasions for the Royal Family at Horse Guards, Holyrood and Glamis. His compositions and arrangements for pipes and military bands have become standard within the repertoire and he is frequently commissioned as an arranger for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, in which organisation he serves in an advisory role and as a Sound Engineer. During his career, Cammy saw action in Northern Ireland,  Kosovo and Iraq.

Since leaving the regular forces on retiral in 2009 he has served as Drum Major for 7 SCOTS (51 Highland) in Perth. Further opportunities have abounded in this new role, and he has enjoyed immensely the honour of Drum Majoring at Balmoral; in Las Vegas and Virginia, USA; Basel, Switzerland and in Malmö, Sweden. His authority and flair for showmanship as well as his unfailing musical ear have won him the plaudits of his peers and the piping community in general.
