Pipefest in Waterford City - May 2nd & 3rd 2009

Waterford is situated in the South East of Ireland is the oldest city in country.
Its walled city of Viking origin retains much of its medieval character together with the graceful buildings from its 18th century expansion. The parameters of the 10th century settlement can be clearly identified in The Viking Triangle. Reginald's Tower is the most historic urban medieval monument in Ireland.
The elegant Chamber of Commerce building, the City Hall and the Bishop's Palace are prime examples of beautiful 18th century architecture. Waterford is also the home of Waterford Crystal, the world-famous hand-crafted, cut glass product and is a sophisticated shopping venue for high fashion and craft & design centre.
The city also has had a very long tradition of Highland piping with pipe bands playing in the streets of the city dating back to early in the last century.
Today the De La Salle Scout Group pipe band upholds that tradition as it has been doing since the band first paraded on May 15 1934.

So to celebrate its 75 Anniversary the members of the band wishes to invite bands and pipers and drummers from far and near to celebrate with a massed pipe band parade in Waterford city on both May 2nd and 3rd.
